Smart Keypad Switch

One electronic platform

A shared back-unit. A faceplate you choose per room.

Every keypad is built from two parts. The back-unit is the part that goes into the wall box and decides how the keypad is powered and wired. The faceplate is what the room sees — and it doesn’t change the control logic underneath.

Step 1 — pick the back-unit
  • With Neutral — 4 relay-switched live outputs, supports curtain mode
  • Non-Neutral — 4 switched outputs, no neutral terminal at the keypad, optional bypass for Load 1
  • Both back-units are 110–240 VAC and always provide a maximum of four physical outputs L1–L4

Step 2 — pick the faceplate
  • Crystal — glass finish, 1 to 5 predefined touch layouts
  • Classic — metal finish, fixed 4-button layout
  • Same 86 × 86 mm mechanical footprint either way

OTA firmware update

Updated over the air through a compatible Z-Wave controller — no faceplate removal required.

Short and long press

Independent actions can be assigned to short and long press by configuration.

Scene position 5

On the 5-button glass layout, the centre touch point is a logical Z-Wave scene input only — not a fifth physical output.

Curtain mode

Paired direction outputs with interlock and break-before-make — the two directions are never energised together.

Z-Wave configuration

Relay power-on state, LED colours, brightness and lock behaviour are all adjusted using Z-Wave parameters.

Configurable icon presentation

Make every touch position clear.

Personalization at your fingertips: icons, blanks and diffusers are matched to the selected button layout, with alternative icons available via the SmartAPEX icon-selection sheet before ordering.

Configurable, not fixed: icon backlight isn’t tied to one colour — each position can be set to any of the keypad’s supported colours after installation.

The physical touch map and available electrical outputs still depend on the selected faceplate layout and back-unit. Icon selection changes the interface, not the electrical rating.

Back-unit specifications

One visible keypad. Two wiring approaches.

Select the back-unit from the project’s electrical requirements first, then specify the Crystal or Classic faceplate on top. Both back-units are mains-powered — With Neutral and Non-Neutral differ in terminal arrangement and load rules.

Installation

Prepare the faceplate and fit it correctly.

Isolate power before wiring, servicing or changing the faceplate. Follow the exact With Neutral or Non-Neutral wiring page in the manual.

Power-cycle onceAfter final assembly, switch power off and on once to establish the capacitive baseline.
