One electronic platform
A shared back-unit. A faceplate you choose per room.
Every thermostat is built from two parts. The back-unit is the part that goes into the wall box and decides how it’s powered, wired and which loads it drives. The faceplate is what the room sees — and it doesn’t change the control logic underneath.
Step 1 — pick the back-unit
- AC back-unit (APX-TZA / APX-TZA010) — 3-speed fan-coil outputs, switched or continuous 0–10 VDC valve control
- Low-voltage back-unit (APX-TZD) — 12–24 VAC/DC, four relay contacts with a shared COM
- Every back-unit takes either an external NTC 10K probe or an external IR probe — the accessory is model-specific, not interchangeable

- Crystal — glass finish, four fixed touch positions with interchangeable icons
- Classic — metal finish, fixed icon layout
- Same 86 × 86 mm mechanical footprint either way, with a digital temperature display on both

Integrated temperature sensor
Onboard sensing by default; Parameter 23 switches the active reading to an external NTC 10K probe.
OTA firmware update
Updated over the air through a compatible Z-Wave controller — no faceplate removal required.
Configurable valve mode
Heat only, cool only, or heat and cool — set by configuration, alongside an adjustable Delta-T demand threshold.
Model-specific accessory
Standard models take an external NTC 10K probe; -IR models take an external IR probe instead — never both on the same unit.

Crystal’s four touch positions are fixed — only the icon inserts and diffusers at each position are interchangeable. Icon selection changes the interface, not the electrical rating.

Select the back-unit from the project’s electrical requirements first, then specify the Crystal or Classic faceplate on top. AC and low-voltage versions drive different loads and have different terminals.

Installation
Prepare the thermostat and fit it correctly.
Isolate power before wiring, servicing or changing the back-unit or faceplate. Follow the exact AC or low-voltage wiring page in the manual.

Fit icons and diffusersCrystal model only: press each diffuser and icon insert fully into position.

Attach the faceplateKeep it parallel to the wall and press or release only at the corners.

Power-cycle onceAfter final assembly, switch power off and on once to establish the capacitive baseline.

Add to the Z-Wave networkPlace the controller in inclusion mode, then touch and hold Button 4 for about 4 seconds until the blue LEDs blink.

Faceplate removal: push / release only at the corners. Keep it parallel to the wall — do not insert a tool against the visible edge, and do not twist or flex it.
